Anastazie Anderson
“I’m in love with colour. I’m in love with photos, trinkets, mementos, pets. I’m in love with my childhood.” - Anastazie Anderson
Anastazie Anderson sees her work as part of a new Pop Art, one that acknowledges that today some of our most intimate, authentic experiences are as mass-produced as cans of Coke. She pulls inspiration from home photography to create paintings that instantly connote nostalgic memories of childhood and the past. Her paintings act as a ‘photo album’ depicting the iconography of home photography through flatness, interpolations of colour, naivete and realism in flux. Anderson paints on large-scale canvases to transfer photographs into grand, emotional, and lifelike scenes from a past history.
