Mattia Guarnera-MacCarthy's artistic practice revolves around an exploration of the human condition through a visual language borrowed from the realms of sports and entertainment. Distinctly contemporary in aesthetic, he uses an airbrush technique to create paintings that capture the unique energy of sporting events, paying close attention to minute details and the expressions or emotions of the individuals pictured. By serving as a mirror to reflect societies enduring obsession with sport, his works intent to ignite a meaningful dialogue surrounding the essence of the human condition. 

Biography

Mattia Guarnera-MacCarthy (b.1999, UK) is an artist based in London. He graduated with a BA Diploma from Camberwell University of Art, UAL in 2022.

 

His work has been featured in group exhibitions with galleries such as: South Paek Gallery, London (2022); Hasbrook Gallery, Milwaukee, WI (2022); The Who Gallery with Harlesden Gallery, London, (2022); Forever Good, London (2022); Harlesden Gallery, London (2022); Better Go South Berlin, Berlin, Germany (2022); A.P.T Gallery, London (202); OOF Gallery, London (2021); Hasbrook Gallery, Online (2021); South London Gallery, London (2020) and Southwark Park Galleries with Dilston Gallery, London (2020). His work was also presented at StART Art Fair Seoul in 2023 and will feature at Frieze London in 2023.
